Friday January 22 - 2010Hayley's only New Zealand show this summer!Hayley Westenra began performing when she was just 6 years old and made her first recording in a professional studio at 12. She was still only 16 when she released her debut international CD, Pure. It rapidly became the fastest-selling debut album from a classical artist, and reached the Top 10 of the pop charts in 11 countries. Her albums have sold more than four million copies worldwide to date. "Pure" was certified by the official UK chart compilers as the best selling classical album of the 21st Century. Hayley is in great demand as a duet partner and has sung with, among others, Jose Carreras, Bryn Terfel and Andrea Bocelli and toured with Il Divo.
2008 has seen Hayley awarded the Global Kiwis Young Achiever Award. The Award was established to recognise a young Kiwi under the age of 35, at the start of their career, who has made remarkable achievements in their field of endeavour. She already has a large fan base in New Zealand following the release of her four CDs and two DVDs, which feature her own unique compositions. Fiona's early career as a musician saw her perform concertos with the New Zealand Secondary Schools Symphony Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and the Christchurch Youth Orchestra, winning two national secondary school music competitions, one in piano and the other in violin. She has opened for artists such as Tony Bennett, Ottmar Liebert and the late Victor Bourge. Fiona has also recorded for many artists around NZ including Hayley and Bic Runga. Light snacks and dinner packs will be available from food stalls around the amphitheatre. Please feel free to bring your own picnic to have beside your car in the grounds before the concert but NO LARGE HAMPERS OR CHILLERS are to be taken in to the amphitheatre as space is limited
BEVERAGES
Wine and beer will be available at the amphitheatre for purchase however our license stipulates that no additional alcohol be brought in to the venue itself.
