Black Barn is set up to cater for functions. There are many options you can choose from and we would suggest that the best way forward is to perhaps phone us and talk your requirements through.

The Bistro

The Bistro is only open for lunches so we can use this space for evening functions as required. It can seat up to 100 people and double doors open out onto a beautifully lit sunken courtyard covered by a canopy of grape vines. The restaurant and courtyard are in the heart of the vineyard and look right out across the vines to take in all of Hawkes Bay. This space can be used for small gatherings, musical evenings, private dinners and weddings.
 

The River Room

The River Room can comfortably seat 40 people, is set up with indoor and outdoor areas perfect for all day meetings, private dinners or small functions. We can quote for full day usage, lunches, dinners, winetastings, evening usage or a combination of meeting space and accommodation. It is totally private with spectacular views upstream, downstream and directly across to Te Mata Peak.

The Gallery

Outside opening hours the Art gallery is a wonderful space for small dinners or meetings of around 20 people. It is in its own building just behind the cellar door and creates a wonderful environment for a private meeting, dinner or celebration.
 

The Amphitheatre

We hold approximately three big events at the amphitheatre each year. Many of these concerts are accompanied by private dinners before the main event. This is a great way to thank clients for their support, to reward loyal customers or just to get together with a bunch of good friends. Dinner packages with premier parking and premium seats can be arranged. Because we are first and foremost a winery and vineyard, we strictly control the number of weddings and private functions we allow. You can therefore be assured that your event will be a unique and special one but it also means that we would recommend you book with us as early as possible.

Black Barn Weddings

Set amongst the vines with captivating views and catching the last rays of the setting sun, the simple elegance of our facilities provide an ideal location for a romantic wedding.
 
The team at Black Barn will work together to ensure that your wedding day is all you dreamed of. You can expect fabulous food and wine, efficient and friendly service to the highest standards. Our experience also allows us to plan for any eventuality such as inclement weather or last minute changes so that that any stresses are minimized.
 

The Venue

At Black Barn Bistro we can accommodate up to 100 guests seated. We have all the facilities needed for the wedding reception such as a sound system and location for a band or DJ.
 
The main room opens out to a vine covered sunken courtyard garden which provides the perfect place in which to have your ceremony or pre dinner drinks. The garden provides a cool retreat for those who wish to take a rest from the dancing in the main room.
 
We have a purpose made cover for the courtyard that can be erected in the event of impending rain should you wish to ensure the use of the garden. We do however have a cover charge for this amenity-we see it as insurance that gives you piece of mind.
 
The venue hire charge of $1800.00 provides for a fully set dining room and the use of the courtyard garden. The charge for the use of the garden cover is $250.00. This will only be charged in the event that it is needed.
 
We do ask that in booking the Bistro venue that you also book Rush Cottage which is directly across from the Bistro.
 

Wine and food

We will work with you to finalize your choices however you can expect the three course dinner including hors d’ ourvres to cost between $75.00 and $80.00 per head. The wine charges are between $27.00 and $60 per bottle. A selection of premium beer and non-alcoholic beverages are also available. All our prices are current and we would provide a full firm quote four months prior to your wedding.
 

Accommodation

Situated on our property are two accommodation retreats. Rush Cottage and The Black Barn. Both provide elegant accommodation for the bridal party or guest and are ideal for hosting a casual brunch the day after which we would be happy to cater for. These retreats are set in beautiful gardens which make a wonderful backdrop for wedding photographs.
 

Our Service

We provide the following:

full access to the venue from 5pm on the day of the wedding

the highest quality of preparation and service of food and wine

arrange the setting of the dining tables and reception room

act as your menu consultant on all food and beverage selections

create a floorplan of the space in order for you to provide seating arrangements

recommend professionals to provide music, flowers, photography, ceremony officiations and invitations

be the onsite liason between all the professional service providers as outlined above

provide full and final quote four months prior to your wedding

co-ordinate your reception (grand entrance, first dance speeches and toasts, cake cutting etc).

What we ask of you

To ensure that your day is how you dreamed it would be and you wish to come to Black Barn, we do ask that you talk to us as soon as possible about your preferred dates and accommodation needs.
 
We will do everything we can to meet those needs. Once we have your booking and the countdown begins we also ask for a $500 deposit.
