Black Barn Retreats and Covid-19
A Black Barn Retreat is the perfect Baycation location; they're ideal spots to escape to post-lockdown, are brilliant for 2,4,6,8 or 10 of you and where open wide spaces come with the territory.
The majority of our retreats can be booked online if you live in New Zealand, for those that cannot reservation enquiries are just an email away.
Changes in Covid-19 Restrictions
If due to a lockdown, you are unable to travel to Hawke's Bay and need to cancel your booking within 30 days of check-in, you may:
1. Use 100% of your accommodation total on a future booking made within 12 months, or
2. We can refund you, less a $250 cancellation fee.
If you would like to cancel a booking 30 - 90 days out from check-in due to COVID-19, there will be a $250 cancellation fee as per our terms and conditions.
Deposits for bookings 90 days or more from check-in are fully refundable.
Under the Covid-19 Protection Framework, we will be open at all colour levels. However, you cannot cancel your booking within 30 days based on a traffic light colour change.
It must be due to a lockdown in either Hawke's Bay or your region.
If you cannot travel because you have Covid-19 or have been asked by the government to self-isolate due to close contact, you may reschedule your stay within 12 months. You will need to provide documentation from the government as evidence of your requirement to isolate. A new booking must be rescheduled at the same retreat and for the same number of nights originally booked. You are not able to receive a refund.
Black Barn Vineyards reserves the right to cancel a booking if necessary due to ongoing Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

What we are doing to keep our guests safe
Our guests, staff, and suppliers' health and safety are of the utmost importance to Black Barn Vineyards.
Our housekeeping team and managers ensure that strict Covid-19 systems are in place to clean and sanitise our retreats to the highest standard. All retreats have the Qualmark Covid Clean approval, and the Black Barn housekeeping team are trained in these hygiene systems. All cleaning staff have PPE, gloves, masks and hand sanitiser. In keeping with Qualmark guidelines, extra attention is placed on all high touchpoints, including door handles, electrical switches, taps, doors, handrails, plumbing fixtures and remote controls.
In support of our housekeeping team, our suppliers, and the guests who will follow you, we require all guests to hold a vaccine pass before checking into our retreats.
Vaccine passes are also required at hospitality venues at orange and red levels. Therefore, unless we are at a green level, vaccine passes will be required to enter Black Barn Bistro, Cellar Door and Kitchen store common areas.
If you test positive for Covid-19 or become a close contact while staying at Black Barn Vineyards
If you test positive for Covid-19 or you're informed that you are a 'close contact' of a Covid-19 case whilst staying at Black Barn, please isolate and notify the Black Barn Retreats team immediately. A health professional will contact you directly to discuss the best way to isolate. Either advise on a safe way to return for home isolation or will assist you in finding an appropriate Hawke's Bay location to isolate until it is safe for you to return home.
It is highly unlikely that you will be able to extend your stay with us to complete your isolation. For further Covid-19 isolation information from the government, click here
