The original homestead of Cape Kidnappers Station; has recently undergone a major renovation, splendidly modified to a very high level and providing many functional spaces to enjoy. The expansive landscape encompasses a tennis court; large petanque court, separate pool and pool house area, spa, croquet and a highly appointed outdoor room.

Terms and Cancellations
booking
- A deposit of 40% of the total is required to secure your reservation. The balance remaining is due 30 days prior to check-in (see Summerlee exclusions). Minibar, services and incidentals are then due within seven days of your departure unless otherwise arranged with the Retreat Manager.
- Summerlee peak time bookings during the peak period of 15th December – 31st January, over NZ statutory holidays or bookings of 4+ nights must be paid in full 60 days before check-in and are non-refundable after this point.
- If payment has not been for the balance of the accommodation at 30 days before check in, this will be charged to the credit card on file.
- One account per reservation would be appreciated.
- Visa and Mastercard accepted - Sorry no Amex or Diners. Please note, credit or debit card incur a service fee of 2.5% to cover banking charges. Payments by cash, direct to bank or EFTPOS within New Zealand do not attract a fee.
- A valid credit card is required to secure and confirm all bookings regardless of payment method.
- If invoices are not paid in full and on time the customer will pay collection and legal fees and such fees may include additional fees or commissions to charge by debt collecting firms and actual legal costs and disbursements charged on by a solicitor and own customer basis. If Rush Cottage Ltd finds it necessary to sue the customer, service of any document will deem to be effected on the customer if that document is left at the address shown at the customer’s business or home address or registered address.
cancellation policy
- Bookings cancelled prior to 90 days of arrival the 40% deposit is refunded in full.
- Bookings cancelled between 90 and 30 days of arrival the 40% deposit less a $250 Cancellation Fee is refunded (see Summerlee and Te Mānia exclusions).
- Summerlee bookings cancelled between 90 and 30 days will not be refunded the 40% deposit if they are during the peak period of 15th December – 31st January, over NZ statutory holidays or bookings of 4+ nights.
- Summerlee peak time bookings during the peak period of 15th December – 31st January, over NZ statutory holidays or bookings of 4+ nights must be paid in full 60 days before check-in and are non-refundable after this point.
- Bookings cancelled within 30 days of arrival 100% of the total is charged.

Location
Summerlee is located next door to Cape Kidnappers Golf Course, The Farm - a 5,000 acre farm which includes the world famous gannet colony and several miles of spectacular Hawkes Bay coastline. While totally private and secluded Summerlee is just 25 minutes from Napier Airport, 15 minutes from the city of Hastings, Havelock North and many of Hawkes Bay's best wineries and attractions including half a dozen of them right at your doorstep.
Attractions
Wonderful attractions are right on your doorstep. Restaurants and wineries, a famous surf break and fishing. Gannet Safaris overland leave regularly for Cape Kidnappers at the bottom of the driveway. This offers the chance to drive over the station and experience the spectacular cliff-top views including the farm and golf course before arriving at the Gannet Colony, this trip can be experienced year round. A little further are other significant wineries and restaurants. 20 minutes away is Napier, a city destroyed and rebuilt after an earthquake in 1931. It is now recognised as one of the most significant Art deco cities in the world. Beautiful long ocean swimming beaches are a 30 minute drive to the south. Golf courses, trout fishing rivers, paragliding and hot air ballooning are all close by. Property Rental
Please note the minimum rental duration for Summerlee is 3 nights. First mornings breakfast provisions are provided. As with all our properties, Summerlee is only available by booking the entire house. While we can provide additional servicing or catering if you wish, the property will be entirely yours for the duration of your stay. Privacy and seclusion are assured. Sorry, no pets and no smoking upstairs in bedroom areas. In addition we can arrange anything from private fishing guides on some of New Zealand's best trout fishing rivers, along with many other activities the region offers. Please let us know what you would like arranged when you make your booking. The property is available for accommodation purposes only, no parties, functions or events are to be held here during your stay. No fireworks are permitted.

Summerlee was a superb place for a group to stay while playing golf at Cape Kidnappers. Stunning decor yet homely and cosy with the open fires and central heating, like your own private lodge. We would love to return.
This beautifully presented property offered every facility and many activities to help make our stay memorable. This was the perfect place to have our extended family stay for a special occasion, lots of different break out areas to cater for the various ages. We appreciated the privacy in a stunning location. For the energetic the Cape Kidnappers walk is a must.
We were completely blown away by the extensive renovation that has taken place, globally it doesn’t get much better than this. Wining and dining progressively in the various areas over the course of the weekend was so much fun. Hugely functional for group catering and a special treat with our favourite Italian chef Raffaella. Golf at Kidnappers, swims, tennis, petanque and yoga on the front lawn – we were in HEAVEN!!
