Poplars 1 is a very comfortable 4 bedroom ensuited retreat luxuriously appointed with high-end furnishings, bedding and fabrics. It has a large convivial kitchen at the heart of the property – perfect for chef enthusiasts.
With a beautiful sun-drenched north facing window seat, it is the perfect spot to read a book on a winters day. The outdoor pool & spa lounge seating area has one of our most impressive views across the valley and out to Te Mata Peak. It is a short walk down to the communal tennis court at Poplars Upstream.

    A valid credit card is required to secure and confirm all bookings regardless of payment method.

Terms and Cancellations

A deposit of 40% of the total is required to secure your reservation. The balance remaining is due 30 days prior to check-in.  Minibar, services and incidentals are then due within seven days of your departure unless otherwise arranged with the Retreat Manager.  If payment has not been for the balance of the accommodation at 30 days before check in, this will be charged to the credit card on file.  
 
 

Bookings cancelled prior to 90 days from arrival the 40% deposit is refunded in full.

Bookings cancelled between 90 and 30 days of arrival the 40% deposit is refunded less the $250 booking fee.

Bookings cancelled within 30 days of arrival 100% of total is charged.

Facilities

  • Rooms

    Up to eight people in four king bedrooms, each with ensuite. Two rooms can split into twin share.

    LCD large flat screen smart TV with Sky. Wireless Broadband Internet Connection with Starlink. Sonos sound system (and portable system for outside).

  • Cooking

    A fully equipped kitchen, complete with dishwasher, gas hobs, electric oven and microwave. Gas BBQ.

  • Laundry

    Full laundry with washing machine, dryer and ironing facilities.

  • Entertainment

    Located within easy walking distance is an all-weather tennis court with lighting for night use - as a guest you are very welcome to play on this during your stay. Tennis rackets and balls provided.

  • Outside

    Private pool and spa pool (heated for Labour weekend – end of Easter). Spa pool all year round. Separate outdoor verandas and dining area. Flat sheltered grassed areas.

  • Additional

    Carport  for guests to use and EV charger.

    Generous bedrooms with bathrooms, dressing rooms, toiletries and luxurious robes.

    Open indoor fire.

    $25 per porta-cot and $15 per highchair.

Location

Poplars 1 is also located in the beautiful Tuki Tuki River Valley. It is up a private driveway on farmland above the river with spectacular views across the river to the entire ridgeline of Te Mata Peak. While totally secluded, it is just 15 minutes drive from Havelock North, situated 4 kms upstream (west) from the Red Bridge which crosses the Tuki Tuki River.

Attractions

There is great trout fishing right at your doorstep - or we can provide a guide to take you a little further afield. You can also enjoy river swimming (walking distance from Poplars 1), kayaking and extensive walking trails. Cape Kidnappers, recognised as one of the worlds great Golf courses is 20 minutes down stream. The beautiful Waimarama and Ocean beaches are 20 minutes to the east. There are wineries and restaurants all within minutes of the gate. Havelock North with its great shopping, delis, antiques and food supplies is 10 minutes away. Property Rental

Four king sized bedrooms with ensuites. Two king rooms can be split for twin occupancy.  First mornings breakfast provisions supplied. The minimum stay is two nights and sorry, no pets and no smoking indoors. No fireworks are permitted.
