The Black Barn

The Black Barn is located right in the heart of the Vineyard just behind but out of sight of Rush Cottage. Surrounded by grapes, almond trees, Olive trees and citrus it looks out from its slight rise above the vines to a vista that stretches right across the beautiful province of Hawkes Bay. It looks from the snowcapped mountains in the west to the ocean and river valleys in the east. The Black Barn is just 30 minutes from Napier Airport, 10 minutes from the city of Hastings and just 5 minutes from the quaint and historic village of Havelock North. It is set right in the heart of New Zealand's premier wine region and many of New Zealand's most famous wine names are literally on your doorstep. Beautiful beaches, golf courses, trout fishing rivers and shopping are all just minutes away.

Unlike hotel mini bars, these wines are supplied to you at winery prices and significantly less than hospitality rates. If there is a Black Barn wine we don't have in your retreat just let us know and we will have it ready for your arrival.

Many people who stay at The Black Barn or Rush Cottage simply don't want to leave the property. You are surrounded by several acres of vines and a working vineyard. You are welcome to treat the vineyard as 'your own' while you are staying with us and everything from artichokes to fresh figs to almonds to citrus can be gathered from the property depending on the time of year you are with us. Of course you can always lend a hand during 'vintage' aswell!

When you are with us, the winery is just a five minute walk through the vines and is open seven days so we can advise you on the location of the best beaches, golf courses, swimming pools and attractions. We can also organise winery tours, garden visits, guided fishing trips to some of New Zealand's best trout fishing rivers and we can also organise to have fully catered meals prepared and presented at Black Barn if you wish. There will be a full list of restaurants and local attractions in the Barn when you arrive, we also offer a wide range of activities that we are more than happy to arrange on your behalf.

As with all our properties, Black Barn is only available by booking the entire building. While we can provide additional servicing or catering if you wish, the property will be entirely yours for the duration of your stay. Privacy and seclusion are assured. Please note this price includes first morning Breakfast provisions. We will accept one night bookings (midweek only) a two night minimum stay for weekends. All our properties are well patronised with particularly heavy demands during weekends. If a weekend stay is to be part of your itinerary we would strongly suggest you give us as much notice as possible. Sorry, no pets and no smoking in bedrooms.
