Summer just wouldn't be Summer without a glass of Black Barn Rosé. Pale with clean, crisp characters perfect for summer! It is made from our premium Merlot grapes in front of Rush Cottage. Limit of 4 dozen per order.

Aromas of fresh nashi pear, citrus blossom and a hint of ginger layered with a hint of creme brulee. The rich, full palate reveals fleshy succulent fleshy notes with a finely textured balance leading into a long finish. A crafted fine food wine.

Complex and very sophisticated bouquet with aromas of fresh apricot and red apple, peach and lees complexity. Complex and seamless, very youthful, primary and curious. A lovely example, well made and ready for drinking from early 2022 through 2029+. 

Violet florals, a subtle white spice note with an integrated oak background.

Vibrant fruit, gentle tannins and soft acidity give a lingering finish.

Only produced in exceptional years, last in 2009, our 2020 Sangiovese is a standout wine from a stunning vintage. Dark cherry, brambles and cassis on the nose, elegant tannins, soft acidity and a lingering finish. Delicious now or cellar for 5+ years.

This wine commemorates a remarkable woman who we look to as ‘The Godmother’ of Black Barn Vineyards.

Arriving from Ischia in 1947, Concetta Lombardi settled in Havelock North.

Under her Kiwi name Tina Green with husband Bill they established Lombardi Wines. In 1994, as leaseholders of the land and in acknowledgement of Tina, we planted five rows in the Italian varieties of Sangiovese and Montepulciano. This is a stunning Italian blend celebrating a proud woman who may have become a Kiwi blend herself, but like this wine, also remained proudly and staunchly Italian.

An intense mouth-filling wine with dark fruit characters and texture.  Pepper, spice and toast notes liven the solid aromas of the fruit, especially dark-flesh plums.

Luscious tannins fill the mouth, blending into a strong wine of remarkable fruit and oak characters. Grapes are 100% estate grown then basket pressed and aged in oak barrels.

Great cellaring potential.

Together with Imagination Gin maker, the Black Barn winemaking team chose some tightly grained and lightly toasted French oak barriques which were used in the production of our Syrah.  Back in the distillery they were filled with the highest quality triple distilled dry gin and let time and nature do it’s thing. The result is an exquisite gin with a vibrant fruit nose and a hint of toffee and cinnamon. The initial sweet spice on the palate gives way to a soft piney oak body and a lingering dry spice finish.
