Summerlee is a magnificent secluded property set in 10 acres of gardens with spectacular coastal views of a sweeping Hawkes Bay coastline. A coastal village, wineries, restaurants, a renowned surf break, rivers and one of the world’s top golf courses are at your doorstep.
The original homestead of Cape Kidnappers Station; has recently undergone a major renovation, splendidly modified to a very high level and providing many functional spaces to enjoy. The expansive landscape encompasses a tennis court; large pétanque court, separate pool and pool house area, spa, croquet and a highly appointed outdoor room.
Go out and enjoy the many activities Hawkes Bay has to offer with its renown climate, then return to your own private paradise, or retreat from the world for a few days in private luxury accommodation with unrivalled charm and character. Plenty of room for the chef, nanny and tutor too.

Location
Summerlee is located next door to Cape Kidnappers Golf Course, The Farm - a 5,000 acre farm which includes the world famous gannet colony and several miles of spectacular Hawkes Bay coastline. While totally private and secluded Summerlee is just 25 minutes from Napier Airport, 15 minutes from the city of Hastings, Havelock North and many of Hawkes Bay's best wineries and attractions including half a dozen of them right at your doorstep.
Attractions
Wonderful attractions are right on your doorstep. Restaurants and wineries, a famous surf break and fishing. Gannet Safaris overland leave regularly for Cape Kidnappers at the bottom of the driveway. This offers the chance to drive over the station and experience the spectacular cliff-top views including the farm and golf course before arriving at the Gannet Colony, this trip can be experienced year round. A little further are other significant wineries and restaurants. 20 minutes away is Napier, a city destroyed and rebuilt after an earthquake in 1931. It is now recognised as one of the most significant Art deco cities in the world. Beautiful long ocean swimming beaches are a 30 minute drive to the south. Golf courses, trout fishing rivers, paragliding and hot air ballooning are all close by. A valid credit card is required to secure and confirm all bookings regardless of payment method.

- A deposit of 40% of the total is required to secure your reservation. The balance remaining is due 30 days prior to check-in (see Summerlee exclusions). Beverages, services and incidentals are then due within seven days of your departure unless otherwise arranged with the Retreat Manager.
- Summerlee peak time bookings during the peak period of 15th December – 31st January, over NZ statutory holidays or bookings of 4+ nights must be paid in full 60 days before check-in and are non-refundable after this point.
- If payment has not been for the balance of the accommodation at 30 days before check in, this will be charged to the credit card on file.
- One account per reservation would be appreciated.
- Visa and Mastercard accepted - Sorry no Amex or Diners. Please note, credit or debit card incur a service fee of 2.5% to cover banking charges. Payments by cash, direct to bank or EFTPOS within New Zealand do not attract a fee.
- A valid credit card is required to secure and confirm all bookings regardless of payment method.
- If invoices are not paid in full and on time the customer will pay collection and legal fees and such fees may include additional fees or commissions to charge by debt collecting firms and actual legal costs and disbursements charged on by a solicitor and own customer basis. If Rush Cottage Ltd finds it necessary to sue the customer, service of any document will deem to be effected on the customer if that document is left at the address shown at the customer’s business or home address or registered address.
cancellation policy
- Bookings cancelled prior to 90 days of arrival the 40% deposit is refunded in full.
- Bookings cancelled between 90 and 30 days of arrival the 40% deposit less a $250 Cancellation Fee is refunded (see Summerlee and Te Mānia exclusions).
- Summerlee bookings cancelled between 90 and 30 days will not be refunded the 40% deposit if they are during the peak period of 15th December – 31st January, over NZ statutory holidays or bookings of 4+ nights.
- Summerlee peak time bookings during the peak period of 15th December – 31st January, over NZ statutory holidays or bookings of 4+ nights must be paid in full 60 days before check-in and are non-refundable after this point.
- Bookings cancelled within 30 days of arrival 100% of the total is charged.
