Rush Cottage is a charming turn of the 20th-century shepherd's stone cottage, with most of its original floors, walls and joinery still intact. It sits opposite the Bistro and Cellar Door on Black Barn Road with its own private lawn and spectacular views across the vines and out to all of Hawke’s Bay. Please note that the cottage has two bedrooms upstairs, a single bathroom, and a separate toilet downstairs on the ground floor. This configuration may not suit all guests.

Located on the vineyard at Black Barn is an outdoor tennis court. As a guest you are very welcome to play on this during your stay. All equipment can be found in your retreat.

Location
Rush Cottage, is located right in the heart of the Vineyard. The Cottage looks directly down through the rows of Merlot grapes and out to the mountains in the West, the River valleys in the East and the ocean of Hawke's Bay straight ahead to the North. Black Barn Vineyards are just 30 minutes from Napier Airport, 10 minutes from the city of Hastings and just 5 minutes from the quaint and historic village of Havelock North. It is set right in the heart of New Zealand's premier wine growing region and many of New Zealand's most famous wine names are literally on your doorstep. Beautiful beaches, golf courses, trout fishing rivers and shopping are all just minutes away.
Attractions
Many people who stay at either Rush Cottage simply don't want to leave the property. You are surrounded by several acres of vines and a working vineyard. You are welcome to treat the vineyard as 'your own' while you are staying with us and everything from artichokes to fresh figs to almonds to citrus can be gathered from the property depending on the time of year you are with us. When you are with us, the Cellar Door is just next door and the team can advise you on the location of the best beaches, golf courses, swimming pools and attractions. We can also organise winery tours, guided fishing trips to some of New Zealand's best trout fishing rivers and we can also organise to have fully catered meals prepared and presented at the Cottage if you wish. A valid credit card is required to secure and confirm all bookings regardless of payment method.

Bookings cancelled prior to 90 days from arrival the 40% deposit is refunded in full.
Bookings cancelled between 90 and 30 days of arrival the 40% deposit is refunded less the $250 booking fee.
Bookings cancelled within 30 days of arrival 100% of total is charged.

Black Barn Bistro is just across the road, Craggy Range and Havelock North restaurants and cafes all within a 5 minute drive. Go a little further afield to Hastings or Napier for more!
Tuki Tuki River access is just a 5 minute drive or easy 20 minute walk away.
Ocean Beach is a 20 minute drive and Waimarama Beach a little further being 30 minutes away.
